This class incorporates ballet dance principles in traditional resistance training techniques in order to enhance an individual's posture, alignment, body coordination, flexibility, and strength.
5-10 minutes "warm-up"
In the first few minutes of each session, I will include dynamic warm-up exercises, as well as ballistic and static stretching. I will also incorporate yoga sun salutations and poses to help align the body for class and warm-up the core.
35-45 minutes "class"
Class will consist of a series of exercises that incorporate ballet dance elements, as well as exercises ideal for enhancing posture, balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength. I will include traditional ballet exercises done at the barre, as well as "floor barre" ballet exercises. Some resistance equipment will be used.
5-10 minutes "stretch and cool down"
This section of class will consist of a group led stretch portion. I will lead the group through a series of stretches, and offer suggestions and corrections to individuals throughout. The goal for this section is to bring the heart rate down, and to ensure the body is properly aligned and lengthened.
